Lavender

Hands burn like forest fires, dancing over my skin,
Charring everything they touch, ashes in the wind,
Isles in the sky, why would you like?
I thought you loved life.

Love bursts like wild lavender from my chest,
hoisted up by your love,
con-caving ribs and screaming lungs,
hanging onto you're every word,
syllables taking my breath away.

Heart locked away, behind silver bars,
padlock cell and stationary cards,
victim of my own pity, but you saw through,
tried to find a way to unlock me,
turns out you searched in vain,
because there was no key.

Hoping that we will make it through today,
I tell you to go on without me,
because these chains hold me against my will,
swear I can't move with you,
restraints that pull against me like deep roots.
