Catatonic

I lose loose time like I lose loose change,
caught between the couch cushions, and your brain,
hopeless hours spent alone,
your shadow as my only company.

Used to be the candle to light my way,
but now you suck out all the light,
throw us into an abyss of darkness and loneliness.

I will sit there with you, until you are ready to move,
even if it takes a million years,
I won’t leave you too.

Lit our world on fire,
trying to smoke out the demons under your skin,
sinking guilt,
crushing conscious and darkness.

Hang up those glow in the dark stars,
better than the ones outside,
vast nothing, millions of miles away,
take my hand, and we can fly.

These creatures eat at your body and mind,
turn you into a home for the flies,
but even when you are six-feet deep and not breathing,
I won’t ever leave your side.

Here, share some of your pain with me,
I can take it all away,
how about we just fly away?

I will sit there with you, until you are ready to move,
even if it takes a million years,
I won’t leave you too.

It’s okay, you don’t have to speak,
your body here is enough company,
just listen to my voice,
I’ll drown out the background noise.

White crackling,
hot flames lick at you,
feels like you are numb,
want to succumb,
to what? you’re not quite sure,
but you don’t want to stay here in the dark anymore.

Once more the moon is overhead,
taking our hands and leading us to bed,
mountains of pillows and fields of sheets,
it’s time to sleep.

I will sit there with you, until you are ready to move,
even if it takes a million years,
I won’t leave you too.
