Sovereign

Thus thrown against the dark,
Roaming in these wastes,
The dark cast flush and warm against the skin
Roiling in untold time.

Oh, Sovereign!
In basest form you swarmed,
Looming against the dusk,
Baring venom bought from impassioned essence
And with fang cast my waking mind into writhing slumber.

Sleep bare the ill taste of soil upon the tongue
As the earthly self descended,
Yielding to the depths of the tomb
And thrown to the maw of un-waking,
Indomitable sleep, to struggle
And parish against the waking dark.

Lost is the soul,
Forgotten in the sinking abyss
Until at last the final sleep,
Shimmering in the endless waters,
Greets the whimpering spirit
Into the naked light.
