To Be Outlanded

Just then, the water came over top
striking the ground and swallowing the air
The water came to me and I flew
and I breathed in new life

Jordan and Nigh took me through in shelly frosted flames
Jean and Miss took me to the lady's land
Where a maze on the plains grappled with the old beauty of the world

James and a Saint left me to die as the world shifted round
and I choked on the unfamiliar gang of yellow flowers filling the blank air, becoming a sea

Me, king of this new world, laid choking by a trickle, a turtle, and the sticks it was gathering
Like a fence to the stream, bordering the water that shone a milky reflection

I closed my eyes and gave in to the water of the sky
which breezed through me
outlanded
and outlanded me again to its home
