Nostalgia for a Passing Memory

I believe as I drive by
In this city made of glass
That there’s beauty in this world
But it can’t be reached with hands

I first saw her walking by
On the first few days of March
She’s so pretty it’s unreal
And it sparked a storm inside

I admired her from afar
Until one day we would talk
And she’s everything I dreamt
Before I knew who I was

She’s so beautiful and bright
No, she never can be mine
But sometimes she smiles at me
And I feel like I can fly

She likes music that I like
No one’s ever showed me that
She’s not vain, nor is she mean
I don’t quite understand that

All the boys fall for her smile
All of them are charmed by that
None of them see that before
She’s been hurt but she still laughs

And I think she’s like the stars
Shinning but always so far
I know I don’t stand a chance
But I like to make her smile

She gives pieces of her heart
To me even though she has
Has no clue that’s how I feel
That’s okay, that’s all I want

I know where I live we can’t
It’s not like she knows at all
Has a boyfriend anyway
So I know when to step back

So we started growing apart
Can’t be friends, won’t even try
It’s been long and I stopped myself
But she’ll always be in my heart
