Humanity

I’ve been here for three days
Well, that’s what my inmate said

I didn’t hurt her.

She slipped from the drops coming from mother nature
The liquid was cold
And the moment it came in contact with her skin
She became cold

I didn’t hurt her.

To the only one who glanced her way
And made the effort to help her

I didn’t hurt her.

She hurt me

My inmate told me he heard how I got in here
Every truth of it gone with my being

I didn’t hurt her.

When did it become a crime to just show some humanity?
