"Dead Flowers"

This flower is dying here;
There's no water left where it can grow.
There's no time to save it left for you now,
The sun has set and left just shadow.
This empty sill where it used to sit
Is just a reminder of a time forgotten.
Like the petals fall just to die,
It was a fleeting beauty we were lost in.
There's nothing here you can search for;
I left the flowers you gave to die alone.
There are no words, no wishes, no memories,
You can take back once set in stone.
It's an empty vase that held promises--
Vows you never intended at all to keep.
Like the dying flowers you always gave to me,
I just watched resigned as you turned to leave.
