Be Yourself

I think that when I was a child
I wanted to be like my mom, but I'm not sure.
Women give birth and create loving families, warm homes.
That's what I thought.

I tried to be her,
till I realized she was far from being a good mother and wife.
Then I decided I could do the things she couldn't.
I studied and got my diploma as a dental technician
and I worked hard to live on my own and help my dad.

I didn't have to try being her,
I was actually better than she ever was or could be.
Be yourself, and not anyone else.
