Just a Facade
After all we've been through,
All the times we shared,
It was just a facade,
A lovely facade,
I looked up at you,
And saw the beauty,
In your eyes and your smile,
But behind it all was another thought,
Truly radiant,
But so far away is me,
A truly dark guy,
Alone with no solace in sight,
I felt a connection,
And maybe it was there at one point,
But nothing is there now,
Maybe never there,
I can feel it in the air,
I can hear it in your voice,
Your disinterested,
Unknown to me,
I just don't know what to do,
Should I press on,
Holding onto what could be nothing,
Or give up,
Holding the rose of my affection,
As it slowly erodes to nothing.
All the times we shared,
It was just a facade,
A lovely facade,
I looked up at you,
And saw the beauty,
In your eyes and your smile,
But behind it all was another thought,
Truly radiant,
But so far away is me,
A truly dark guy,
Alone with no solace in sight,
I felt a connection,
And maybe it was there at one point,
But nothing is there now,
Maybe never there,
I can feel it in the air,
I can hear it in your voice,
Your disinterested,
Unknown to me,
I just don't know what to do,
Should I press on,
Holding onto what could be nothing,
Or give up,
Holding the rose of my affection,
As it slowly erodes to nothing.
