Earth Tones

Laying on the floor
Pizza boxes, soda cans, your sweatshirt and your shoes -
Scattered

Laying on rocks in the middle of the universe
We raced the sun to the top of the mountain
I always said you looked good in earth tones

My back against the wall, playing with my black sandal
You left it there in the hallway
When you found the last piece of me in your room

Staring at my empty space-
Torn down posters, unmade bed, spotless floor
You took your shoes months ago
But I can still see your muddy footprints
I swear

Staring at this piece of paper
You always kept a notebook,
But I rarely saw inside it

I always said I liked your mind
But I liked it more when I was on it
