Once I Saw A Platypus

Once I saw a platypus
With eyes a-flaming green
He stood upon a tall hill
So as not to be seen

He took his gleaming sword in hand
And spagetti in his foot
Then lept upon a flaming lion
With a mane as black as soot

The lion bucked him off his back
And took off in a hurry
He left behing a trail of feathers
And the platypus in a flurry

The platypus was furious
His face turned a nice shade of red
He shouted at something invisible
"Come back or I'll lock you in a shed!"

A voice came out of nowhere
"I will not answer to you
You can't treat me like a common steed
Or tell me what to do!"

The platypus wept his beautiful eyes out
And cried until he could cry no more tears
When I asked him what the matter was
He replied "The lion ran off with my ears"

And the platypus that I once saw
With the eyes of flaming green
Stood upon that tall hill
So as not to be seen

He didn't want me to see him cry
Nor did he want me to know
That platypus don't actually have ears
They just love to put on a show
