Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time
there was a little girl
who dreamed of growing tall
enough to touch the stars

But everybody told her
“no one grows so tall
the taller you become
the farther you will fall”

Still this little girl
instead of giving up
decided to grow wings
so she would not get stuck

But everybody said
“little girls can’t fly”
and for a little while
the girl thought they were right

The little girl grew older
until she was grown up
and she didn’t try to reach the stars
because she thought she’d made it up

But one day someone told her
“believe in the unknown
you’ll never make your own story
if you think it’s impossible”

So the little girl looked up
and reached into the sky
her fingers brushed the light and she said
“once upon a time…”
