4 AM

My God, she looks like velvet
Black velvet in her eyes
She looks like heaven
Right before Lucifer fell from the skies

Her flesh is tender but cold to the bone
How can foreign skin feel like home
If her hair is midnight then her face is the moon
If her stare is a disease then I am immune
Because I'd let the wicked in her eyes try to infect me
But all she can do is laugh...
Laugh silently

She doesn't carry herself, she loses
each cell in her body and mind into any room that she walks in
Her silhouette is a moving shadow of her presence
My God, I've never seen a human being be so genuine

Don't believe her when she says she taste sweet
Because I said a prayer with her tongue in my mouth
And I've never had a lip burn make me this weak
She's the grim reap, I can't speak
But my God, she's a devil I've got to keep

She left me crying whiskey tears and she didn't care
Walked away in the dark forest that lives in her hair
But she looked so beautiful when she left me alone
You can't hold onto twilight, I should have known
It's in the way she paints the walls with her hand as she leaves
The way she grabbed the doorknob with her heart on her sleeve
My God, I swear that I'm sober, might be insane
Because now she's gone and I never asked for her name
