The End of the World

Crows circle overhead
Calling spine-chilling warnings in the air
Wind frozen still and thick around me
A suffocating fog fixed there

Heart pounding
Sweaty palms
Something urges you to run
But you find yourself fixed to the ground
Mouth dry, mind numb

A scattered rain slides through the fog
Droplets heavy and hot on your skin
You try to speak but no words come
The clouds above create a din

The ground shakes but does not crack
To swallow you into the mire
The angry rain is melted candle-wax
And the sky is aglow with fire

The flames have come from above
Where peace is said to reign
It seems you’ve been taught all wrong
The wind’s now raising Cain

Fear steals your blood as it courses your veins
The thick blanket of stilling haze still holding you in place
You feel a stab of panic in your heart
You’re all alone in the burning rain

Confusion as you cannot move
Melted-wax drops form a downpour
Close your eyes but all you see
Are visions of suffering and gore

The crows become so loud above
Swirling in the crimson flames
Their evil eyes, thier deadly call
In the confusion you cannot think

In the empty wasteland vast
You seem to slowly to shrink

The world lights fire
Surrounding you in Hell
The trees crack and wither
The ground begins to melt

Try to scream but no sound rises
You’re far too weak and scared
As you awake to darkness cool
You curse all such nightmares
