How to Write Poetry 101

1. Tap into your emotions. To that, you must stop taking your medication, stop your healthy sleeping schedule, talk about your feelings, talk about your feelings to cut and purge on an empty stomach, talk about how it makes you sick to your stomach to think about how you were molested for six fucking years and you disassociated during all of it and some. Talk about your crippling depression and how it has turned into a sick joke for you now and how it makes you stay in bed most days and how you actually like this new medication because it makes you forget how to feel.

2. Turn all that talk into writing.

3. Make your everyday things into something better, more poetic; your sunny-side up eggs aren't sunny side up anymore, they are the sun; big, yellow and proud while standing out beautifully against fluffy white egg white clouds that lay around it like a picture frame. The bitter black coffee sitting in your mug isn't coffee, it's the way his name tastes in your mouth.

4. Make your emotions turned talk turned writing rhyme. Ten make it unrhyme. Put it in a haiku then add more syllables.

5. Write a short story then shorten it some more by taking out dialogue and exchange it for more monologue. name the name character Ivy or Bullet and make them cry, poetry is all about evoking emotion.

6. Name your poem after a song or an album, but something emo, goth or scry, about cutting or drinking or coffee and cigarettes, poetry is all about evoking emotion.
