Feel Real

As terrifying the emotion,
I would much rather
walk the earth full of
battle scars,

than to never have felt
the dagger of sincerity,
press deep within my
rib cage.

Making my chest tighten,
and my eyes widen
as I acknowledge
that I am alive,
and that I do exist…

and that for once
in my life,

I felt real.
