Pondering Thoughts

Under the crescent moon and dark of night,
I gaze upon this world passing me by.
Everything I knew or took delight
Has slipped away without a reason why.
With wolfen howls, I plead my ancient song
Amongst a world that could not understand;
And in that thought I know I won't belong
To such a place; a fate I never planned.
This world, this place, it is a grand mirage
That flickers in the winds of space and time;
And yet it is something I long because
A dream is something that is truly mine:
But dreams, like day; like night; like life must fade
To time; to death; and more we can not trade.
