Seasons

It all comes so fast
Quick
The way you move when you see something out the corner of your eye
In that split second, time stops
You’ve been waiting
Watching as it unfolds
Slowly
Like a late spring
The flowers are ready to explode
And then
They do
I’m sitting outside your house
It’s been raining for days
How I’ve waited for you in this same spot a thousand times.
It’s been weeks since I last saw you
And that’s all it takes
You look the same
The most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen
We go for a walk and we don’t talk
Now we’re back at that spot
Outside your house
I want to touch you so bad my fingertips burn
We don’t touch, you say goodbye
Say you’ll see me soon
I drive off for the last time
Past your friend’s house who would have loved me through every season
And I think
What a fucking idiot.
