Never Gone

When you're away it seems so long.
You come back and find everyone gone.
The lonely days have turned to nights.
Your heart feels empty but it feels alright.
The cold nostalgia turns to flames.
But the feeling in your mind is there to tame.
Your mind plays tricks but your brain is right.
The loneliness you're feeling only comes tonight.
Tomorrow there's always a brighter day.
So I'm hoping when I see you, you'll choose to stay.
It sounds so weird to ask for forgiveness.
But maybe you'll come back even just for a minute.
The thought of you moving on.
Makes me believe you were never gone.
