A Soldiers Letter(Fictional)

Dear Mama,

The sound of guns is all around me.

The smell of gun powder surrounds me.

I see the bodies of fallen commrades.

I see their blood cover the land.

Their dying screams.

Haunts my dreams.

I wake up

Unable to sleep.

Mama I think that it's unfair

To put boys on the battlefield.

I see schoolmates fall like leaves.

I try to help them,

Save them.

But their innocent blood covers my hands.

Now I know what they meant

When they said, "wars a mans game, not a boys."

Mama I'm so scared.

But remember what you said,

"My son make me this one promise,to pray before you lay down

your head."

And you I promised to pray.

And mama I'm proud to say.

That I pray before I lay down my head.

Well mama I guess thats the end.

But before I go,

I want you to know,

The end to my prayer

It's simple, but to a soldier, to a boy it's everything

Now I lay me down to sleep,

I pray the Lord my soul to keep,

Guide me through the night,

And wake me with the morning light

And if I shall die before I wake,

I pray the Lord my soul to take.

Amen.

Love you mama always,

your son
