The Little Girl: Part 2

I feel like my heart is bleeding
Shredded; every piece
It matters not who wielded the knife
what matters was that I delivered the final cut
That sliced my heart apart

The little girl inside must be kept safe
She cannot be harmed
The walls that fell rose again
Harder, stronger, darker
All the while the little girl wept for what woman had to do

Against her will; the sun did turn
Time passing slower now
The little girl screamed, shouted, and cursed
For the first time, she hated the walls that surrounded her
But woman was unmoved

She had sworn to protect the little girl
Even from herself
It was what she had to do

Days did come
and nights did go
The world continued to turn
Still, the little girl cried on
For the white knight, she had felt in her heart was hers

I kept us safe; woman shouted
But still, the little girl did weep
He caused you pain; woman stated
But the little girl did not care
It was you who cut me last; the little girl said
Fire in her eyes

You were my protector.
My savior
But you hurt me most of all
Your walls of crystal cut me
More than he could ever do

Yet all I’ve ever done is protect you; proclaimed woman
I beg you
See the white knight as black
Or our heart will be torn asunder
We might never get it back

What has been done can be mended
The pieces can be stitched anew
But fail to heed me and there will be no saving you

The little girl fell; exhausted
Tears washing down her face
I hate you; She whispered
Drifting off to sleep
You’ll thank me yet; Said woman
And she gently stroked her cheek
