Calico,
So small and fragile,
Only a few weeks old,
A beautiful kitten,
So brave and bold,
He found you on a busy street,
Fearing for your life,
And he saved you,
Gave you a will to survive,
But you struggled to breathe,
And tried your best to stay alive,
But we held you close,
Gave you love and care,
Made sure you knew someone was there,
And when the time came,
You sadly lost your life,
But you'll stay in our memories,
We'll remember you for the rest of our lives,

Cherie was a calico kitten my boyfriend happened to find in the middle of the road next to a busy intersection. He took her to the vet and they told him that all she needed a few days and some antibiotics. We took her to his mother's so she could possibly care for her while my boyfriend and I worked the weekend but sadly, Cherie had to be put down the next day due to the amount of fluid in her lungs making her chance of survival little to none. She was only six weeks old and we don't know what trauma she suffered before we found her, but when she passed, we made sure that she knew that she was loved and cared for.
