The Weary Traveller

This is a tribute to the commuter.
I see you there
With a bleary stare
Questioning your life choices

Your kids kept you up until the wee hour
And now with all your power
You wish for a time
When you could sleep in until nine
Ah youth.

You are trying to watch netflix
But your neighbour's annoying ticks
Are driving you insane
And you curse as it rains
Because your umbrella is at the office

You eavesdrop and stare
Listen to the story of Sarah's nightmare
She's loudly telling her friend
And you really just want it to end
So you can nap

This is a tribute to you commuters
Hardened travellers of buses and rails
With both funny and tragic tales
Of delays and weirdos and that one time there was a fight
I admire you in your plight

But here's a thought,
A snippet of advice to ease your stay
Once in a while, maybe try a smile
You may find it easier that way...
