The Lonely Girl

Muffled sounds from Midnight Streets
Grass damp beneath my feet
From an open window music's heard
A kind that sounds a bit absurd
Because it plays for the Lonely Girl
With a head full of thoughts that swirl
Into her pillow the Lonely Girls cries
Feeling worthless from all her failed tries
I toss rocks through her window hoping she'll see
And come on over to talk to me
But her swirling thoughts are too intense
And she can't pick a side of the fence
Live or die-- a maddening choice
For she feels no one will hear her voice
As she cries alone in her room
A place that might just be her tomb
Another rock, maybe two
Hoping to bring her into view
I want to help her not feel alone
Because it's a sickness that seeps into the bone
But to the window she never comes
I leave with the rising of the sun
I lay in bed alone with my thoughts
Because those are all that I've got
The Lonely Boy wants the Lonely Girl
My own thoughts begin to swirl
