As Patient as the Stars

the solace i find
in the vast, dark, twinkling sky
reminds me that i
am the most beautiful kind
of mess.

the universe began as a mess:
a huge hydrogen mess -
compressed energy growing
denser.

the mess and it’s existence
forming nebulas -
forming stars:
fusing to create
helium and oxygen.

patience led to us having
iron and gold.
and the hot, burning fiery mess
that burnt in the star
formed everything in me.

patience led to me becoming
literal star stuff,
and more patience led to me
working to shine as bright as
the quiet stars i look up at in the night.
