Shadow

I wake up to the light
squinting at its brightness
as I get ready for the day
felt is someone’s presence.

I turn around.
No one is there
who would catch my eye.
No one, but my shadow.

I become wary
when the sensation
increases to paranoia.
There is only my shadow.

I see my shadow
in the lighted mirror
dancing upon the walls
And empty reflection full of life.
