Going Crazy (aka Migraine)

that’s it
i've had it
i can’t take it
anymore
there is too much
going on
in my dense brain
my thick skull
i can’t let anymore in
but nothing else comes out
crammed and packed
closer than sardines
pounding in my ears
antique alarm clock hammers
beating percussive strains
upon my temples and brain
and as the seconds swiftly tick
i feel my sanity slip
and slip
as i slip away
into the pounding blackness
of oblivion.

2003 October. This poem was written in the midst of a massive migraine. I knew I had an idea, so I got a pen and paper and just let my hand write what was on my mind but that I couldn't consciously focus on before I passed out. Aside from a few minor tweaks, this is the exact poem as I found when I woke up after the migraine had passed.
