Big Girl

You're really gaining weight
He told me,
After he finished.
Sweat trickled down the side of his face.
I like it.
You're becoming a big girl.
I felt my face turn red
Because even at such a young age
I knew that being fat
Was looked down on
And I didn't want to be a big girl
I wanted to stay small
I wanted my breasts to shrink away
And my curves to straighten themselves out again.
So that day I didn't eat for the rest of the day
Or the next day
Or the next day
And I tried to shrink away
But my hunger got the best of me
And I learned he was right when he told me I was weak
And lazy
And stupid
Because I found myself in front of the fridge
Eating like a big girl.
