New Friends

The hardest part about opening up is
that you pull the triggers that you
forgot your fingers were resting on

You meet new people whose eyes
Want to read an unedited story
Or fill in the blanks you put there

Because friendship isn’t suppose to be
So scary, like an alarm blaring because
They cracked the emergency glass

They want to hold the pieces of you
but you don’t remember how to give
broken glass without cutting hands
