Underwater

I am underwater, I swear
my mouth makes
bubbles
of laughter, they tremble
they way
my heart used to
but
I can't hear them, my ears
are full of cotton
you ask me
why
I can't feel the rain on my arms why
I can't feel the hail
the snow
the lightening, even.

I see all
the tornadoes
swarming, the earthquakes
shattering
the ground as it trembles and quakes
fierce, frightening
beautiful, but I can't feel
a thing
darling, there are natural
disasters exploding
all
around me but
I am still
and quiet from
my underwater oasis, everything
happening in slow motion
from this static
ocean
I sleep in, slowly
slowly
drowning
