Repose

Two nights, the mist had fallen,
The owls had hardly spoke,
Rain fell slowly to ground,
The forest made no earthly sound,
'Twas then the heavens broke.

Two bodies, they lay silent,
Wind hissed through the ravine,
The fire had long resigned its fight,
Its coals lay cold and black as night,
No star that night was seen.

Two dreamers, clutched in darkness,
Beside the rivers calming churn,
Whispering its lullabye,
In words I cant indentify,
Nor could ever hope to learn.
