And From That Moment I Knew

god her lips were red
so red, like
blood red, fire red
makeyourheartrace
ohgodshouldwereallybedoingthis red
I remember
shaky hands
and her laughter
in my ear
"you're shaking, too"
and from that moment
I knew,
I knew
this is what love feels like
and by god
every butterfly in my stomach
ignited, like a million
tiny phoenixes
red
and warm
...
but honestly?
I think she broke me
she was starlight
or a meteorite
sometimes an avalanche
or a cloudless sky
a panic attack wrapped
in a runner's high
but there's nothing like a lightening bolt
to make you feel alive
