Angel

Darkness consumes me
Sinking deep into the abyss
Harder to breathe,
Harder to see

Then I hear it
The voice of an angel
Sparkling above
Stars in her eyes

With just a word
Sunlight drips down
Echoing within my heart
I reach out

I approach
Reaching out for my angel
But the closer I get
The farther way I am

Warmth fills my eyes
Tears crawling across my face
No words escape my throat
Bubbled behind doubt

And just like that
My angel leaves me
And yet I cannot help
But smile

Untouchable, unattainable
A mercy delivered to me
That belongs to another
A bitter joy, a true angel
