Failing at Dating 11/12/18

There she was standing behind me
I turned to ask for a name
I shook her hand and she touch my soul
I couldn't get her out of my head
As I lay down tossing and turning in bed
I sent a message as days went by
Days later you reply

I asked you out and expected rejection
But instead you say yes I felt affection
I met you for breakfast
As I see you pull up I'm smitten
As we sit and chew
my eyes were only focused on you
I wish I could have kissed you
But I was shy and weak I dissed you

Months go by and no reply
I seeked you out
wondering what went wrong what's this all about
Again I text you to go out but you tell me a friendly hangout
I agree foolishly and off we go to the show

The whole night all I could think about
Was you staring in your eyes
Listening to your stories and life experiences
The smell of beer and Camel 99s fill the air
As you sit there you play with your hair

I try so hard to bring myself to kiss you
But something doesn't feel right
Everything is off yet again
We go to the photo booth and take pictures
We walk to the parking lot and you're gone

You text me 2 days later telling me you're already seeing someone after I ask you out on a date
Thanks for telling me this a few months late
I'm such a fool, a fool that couldn't kiss you when I should have
Now I say goodbye and wish you the best
