Month of February

We didn’t know
That we’d be here now
We needed everyone
To stand up and be proud
We counted our numbers
Got others to join in
Supplied our army with troops
For a battle we didn’t begin
Even now we still fight
The aftershocks of war
Cleaning up the debris
From the destruction
They left at our door
I’m sorry,
I’m sorry,
That people will try to downplay
They’ll try to erase
All that you gave
But you did a good job
You got us this far
Even though the world still doesn’t like black
I’m proud that we are
