Memories

I remember the day so clearly,
The memories etched deep in my brain,
The moment that my world rained down,
And it was never the same again.

My nan was more like my best friend,
I’d visit every week,
We’d do jigsaw puzzles, watch T.V,
Play games and mostly speak.

We’d talk about my worries,
She’d cheer me up when I was sad,
Eat ice cream by the carton,
And let me vent when I was mad.

Then the illness hit her,
And she just wasn’t the same,
It took away her memory,
Until she no longer knew my name.

I’d greet her with a smile,
Though I knew she didn’t know,
Then I’d sit and I would talk to her,
Until it was time to go.

You see, although she didn’t know me,
I still showed her all my love,
I just hope that she is well now,
Watching down on me from above.
