Reality // Fiction

pink tongue, scar in the middle from a piercing long gone,
tab fitting neatly over it, dissolving amidst tiny bubbles
blonde hair falling over eye as she leaned forward, laughing,
hand outstretched, placed on my shoulder

septum barbell (crooked), pushed uneven as she kissed me,
hand tangling in my hair, nails lightly scratching my scalp,
I tasted the airy notes and electronic buzzes from the music in her mouth,
weaving their way around her teeth, catching my lower lip as she pulled away

faux fur rug, soft between my fingertips, rubbing together gently
leaning back as she climbed in my lap, sounds tumbling
out of her mouth. those I heard? none, but love, over and over and over
waves crashed in my ears, and salt water filled my nose

gasping, eyes wrenched open, the ocean, real, around me
good idea, good idea, good idea, not a good idea
her hand intertwined into mine, falling, floating, to the sand below, above
stars, twinkling, dancing, behind us, waves tickling our toes

a blur of time, limbs moving slowly yet so fast, eyes staring ahead
her: around me, in me, braiding hair, in my lap, out of it,
“I wish I loved you as much as you love me”,
out of the door, leftover tabs fluttering through the air like confetti
