Grey

They have it all wrong. Depression isn't blue.
That would add color and feeling to it.
It would make it seem perkier and more poetic and less tragic than it is.

No.

Sadness is blue.

Depression Is grey.

It's grey because it lacks energy, the drive to get up and do stuff.
It's grey because there's a void that cannot be filled, an emptiness that cannot be matched, an illness that cannot be cured.
It's grey because it's overwhelmingly crushing, because it takes away your strength, because it leaves you with nothing, because it suffocates you to death.

And it hides away for a while, and you think it's gone and it finally got better like they told you it would, like you yourself tell others.
Until your fully colorful world turns grey again, and you feel like it will never end.
Like it will pull you under and never let you breathe again.

And sometimes it does.
