Wilting

In the late spring
a lonely new lily stands
in a dancing field of grass.

It waits for the cherished time of blooming.
It longs for the day of blossoming.

Beetles come to meet the lily,
and the lily greets them with a charming color-infused stance,
yet they feast on the flower’s luscious leaves and rigid stem.

The beetles leave the flower alone with a disease they caused.
The disease slowly destroys the lily.
The disease harms the flower more than the beetles ever did.

It loses all hope and
fears
that it will never get the cherished time of blooming.
It
fears
the day of blossoming is nonexistent in its future.

The lily wishes the Earth a farewell
alone never getting to do what it only ever lived for.
