Talking to Absence
She talked to
No one in particular
Having one-sided conversations
She'd likely never speak to him again
Yet, she spoke to his absence as though
She were conversing with him
Once again, like in the memories
She yearned to forget
Communication betwixt them
Had ceased, as they grew further apart
While their lives took differing turns
A severed connection
Made more painful by the
Forced isolation
Silently, she wished
This talking to no one
Were just the budding symptoms
Of psychosis
Instead, it was just remnants
Of a connection that once was
And would likely never be again
She talked to him
As though he were in the same room
Though he wasn't
A one-sided conversation
With no one in particular
Except with the person in her memories
Memories she yearned to forget
Severed connections made more painful
By the forced isolation
She had a connection
At one point and she wished
She never had one at all
They were different
As different as night and day
As different as fire and water
As different as cat and mouse
They formed a connection
And now it was gone, severed
Made even more painful
By the forced isolation
She could reach out
But she did and got no reply
Thus, she let him go
Communication had ceased
They grew apart and their lives diverged
She'd be wrong to hold him back
She talked to
No one in particular
Having one-sided conversations
With the absence of someone she knew
As though he were there once again,
Like in memories she wanted to forget
Remnants of a severed connection
She wished she never had to start with
Wishing as though
It were the buddings of a psychoses.
