In An Instant

Words flashed
Like lightning
And all was silent.
Sharp words so thick,
They stopped up her ears
Filled with blood from
The venom and the shock
Of the words that
Left her thunderstruck.
As the wind and
The rain pelted her,
Frozen in place,
She took in one last
Frigid gasp and watched
As the glow of the
Wrathful sky faded
Rapidly into shadows
So black that they
Swallowed her whole.
Trapped in utter
Silence and darkness,
She felt nothing.
A single, blazing thought
Licked at her soul:

This must be death.
