John Clare
I always thought the one thing man could not take away was my freedom
But yet man has proved me wrong
Trapped within these four belittling walls
I never thought I'd long so much for the freedom nature brings
Never have I felt so far from my God
Just to have the ground beneath my feet and the stars above my head
But now I just sit here
Sit in the little chair in the corner of my room
Within these four belittling walls
Waiting for the beautiful dreams death brings
But yet man has proved me wrong
Trapped within these four belittling walls
I never thought I'd long so much for the freedom nature brings
Never have I felt so far from my God
Just to have the ground beneath my feet and the stars above my head
But now I just sit here
Sit in the little chair in the corner of my room
Within these four belittling walls
Waiting for the beautiful dreams death brings
