Staged

a soft glow of weak uncertainty upon my cheek
that cruel side life holds is shrinking away
for now i see her one true light
a confused, damaged, and lying feat
broadway act that had me fooled
thinking once the music stopped
she's step offstage
but in her heroin damaged brain
the world's her oyster
her audience watches in bemused transfixion
as she parades amongst them
wearing a shimmering but tattered gown
only so that scars will fade
but every evening whe she's lying alone
the gown falls around her feet
the mirror shows what she always knew was there
a broken soul for few to see but solely herself to understand
tomorrow she'll wake and cover her face
and as a gypsy tempt the crowd to join her act
glamorous and wild it seems
but i see the radiance fade
she'll be left naked with only her mirror for company
