Coming Out With The Gay Truth
Ever since I discovered it,
I thought about the day I would come out.
Sometimes in my dreams,
they accepted it,
and others they rejected and threw me out onto the cold, hard streets.
Today I'm coming out.
I can't stand it anymore.
It's always been this butterfly secret on my chest
that tickles for freedom.
It needs to finally be free.
I looked for support,
my best friend nodded, gave me a smile
and told me I was doing the right thing.
I returned her smile and swallowed my pride.
I opened the large mahogany door,
and faced my parents.
"Mom, Dad. I'm gay."
I thought about the day I would come out.
Sometimes in my dreams,
they accepted it,
and others they rejected and threw me out onto the cold, hard streets.
Today I'm coming out.
I can't stand it anymore.
