Depth of Words

I’m not a Robert Frost, Walt Whitman, or Edgar Allen Poe
Their lyric and melody is too complex for me to understand
But I do the best I can.
With talk of all types of love, unrequited love, forbidden love, never ending love
And how nature’s beauty affects the very core of our being;
The intensity of the emotions those phrases posses are beyond my comprehension.
People have forgotten the beauty of words
How they can change the world
How it affects our lives on a day to day basis.
I want to gain the knowledge of these poets,
William Shakespeare, Emily Dickinson, and Langston Hughes.
I want to defy the limits of words
The standards set by the modern world
And our superficial society.
I want to travel the ‘road not taken’
For that is the road that will lead me to success.
I want to imagine a ‘midsummer night’s dream’
And think about how the light cascading off ancient walls
Causes creeping shadows to appear.
As the days go by it becomes easier to express the emotions ripping out of my soul
And tearing my whole being, wanting release.
I want to tell the hurt of rejection and being unwanted
The joy of laughing with friends
And how the depth of our minds can truly change the world.
