We're Vikings

From an em-pty room of an apartment in the twelve floor of a forgotten buil-ding
She stays behind the wooden door, waiting.

Amongst the memories of long lost days,
In the arms of a better man
When she didn’t have to worry.

She stays up late
Wondering why
The starts don’t shine so much [i[to-night
The hours pass slowly but it doesn’t matter.

The streets sing
The same old song
All around the clo-ock, she whispers

“Was there a time
In which I didn’t[/b}
Cry?
I swear I must be a river.

The smoke lingers.

The poison that killed the old
Man passed to the un-loved
Daughter,
The one bruised,
The one de-nied,
The one who never slept
One whole night,
The one that resembles him so badly.

She has his chin,
She has his eyes,
They even sigh a-like
And yet it doesn’t matter.

Stubbornes runs in the blood,
Pride is [i[their
‘fine’ judge.
That’s what screwed their lifes so badly.

Her picture is not
Upon the wall,
His family doesn’t care about her
In the slightest.
Fake com-pliments, make-believe smiles,
They laugh and talk how she has grown so tall.
She shrugs it off,
Turning her head sideways.
She looks beyond those lies,
Her heart knows better than that.
How not recognize lies when they’re thrown at her so often?
The crime, the cries,
What turned out wrong?
The saint they shouldn’t have bowed upon...
That’s the harsh re-a-lity.

A sound brakes her thoughts:
Footsteps seem to come.
The door is thrown ajar auto-mati-cally.

No lies to hide his thruth this time.
He comes in
like he’s not doomed,
not even tries to act all charming.

She stands so tall,
He cuts her off:
“I don’t have time for this.”
“Nor do I!
You leave to-night,
I won’t stand this any longer!
You have no shame,
There is no love!
You don’t care about me anymore!
What’s the point in
Conti-nue acting?”

“You sure you want to end this, love?
Won’t you miss my-
“I will not,
You only crash me hardly.”

He leaves, she cries
Bro-ken at night.
Per-haps the stars
Will shine to-morrow.
