Water Bubbles

As I lay beneath the skies,
I look around for one more surprise.

Only one comes as I look up;
A purple, straight line of fluff.

It leads from east to west.
From a blue darkness to an orange sunset.

These collide; the center be gold,
A crescent moon and lines of old.

Like a ribbon, it streams by.
It's something from a lullaby.

As I lay beneath the skies,
I gaze beyond for one more surprise.

Only one comes as I look down;
Upon my reflection I see a frown.

In a clear, blue looking glass,
Dead worms clump together in a mass.

I can see for endless miles.
Past time and space and hundreds of isles.

But it gets darker and I assume,
That everything will turn dark blue.

In the water, my fingers in then out.
It's very cold, but I linger about.

My hand changes hues to blue.
I make up my mind, and I decide,
That what will happen is far overdue.

I tremble then, can barely stand.
Can I even go through with my plan?

But this I really want to do.
I've made up my mind; I take off my shoes.

The diving board is rough
And cold to my feet's touch.

I'm afraid. Maybe I'm rushing?
I'd rather let the water do all the hushing.

I rise above the chlorine sea.
I think about what life means to me.

Something simple, yet complex.
Is it a gift, or is it a hex?

Afraid to just let God decide,
I hold my breath and take the dive.

Light as air I become.
No more sorrow, just happy-numb.

I open my mouth; out comes air.
Water bubbles play with my hair.

Before I lose my sight,
I want to see one more thing before I die.

I open my mouth one last time.
Water bubbles float up fast.
I'm fine now, I don't recall the past.

I'm tired now; cannot breath.
I close my eyes to my endless sleep.

Darkness finally engulfs the sky.
On angel wings, I'm free to fly.
