We Live, We Die, We Learn

On the mountain
The mother weeps
For a lost love
She will never see.

In the cemetery
The husband frowns
At a lover
He will never see.

In the hospital room
The child sobs
For a mother
He will never see.

On the lake
The mermaid sings
For a warrior
She will never see.

In the pound
The dog whimpers
For a life
It will never see.

In the bedroom
The teen mourns
For a childhood friend
She will never see.

On the earth
The spirits scream
For a chance
They will never see.

We are who we are
We live, we die, we learn
Day and night is only a battle
A battle to survive
To survive the life given to us.
