Ask Not for Whom the death Bell Tolls

Ask Not For Whom the Death Bell Tolls

Ask not for whom the death bell tolls
It sings for long forgotten foes
Who cry and mourn for those at war
And not for those whose lives are poor
So full of doubt and robbed of hope
Their life turns to an uphill slope
Where living is for those who fought
Where all that dreams is turned to naught.

Ask not for whom the death bell tolls
Within you lie the main controls
To find out for yourself at last
Who hath lived and who has passed
Into beyond, so far away
And still you seek them every day
Even without a fair expense
There is no ship to bear you hence

Ask not for whom the death bell tolls
While over windy mounts and knolls
Lies the answer sunk into stone
Weeping to be so alone
And whilst you search for those in pain
The end you seek will come in vain
Until once more to find some peace
Your futile quest at last will cease.

Ask not for whom the death bell tolls
For innocence or that of foals
It sounds it’s ring so far and wide
To seek out those who shake and hide
To find escape from that which kills
When you have no chance against death’s wills
Ask not for whom the death bell tolls
It sings its song for sorry souls
Who covet death only to relieve
And seek solace in its black reprieve.
