My Temptation

You are all that makes my heart rejoice
What I would give to hear your sweet voice
To see your smile light up a room
To wipe your tears in sorrows gloom
To kiss your tender precious lips
To hold your perfect gracious hips
To feel your breath on my neck as I sleep
To be yours forever, to be yours to keep
But as I lay here in the dark
I know we are condemned to be forever apart
Is this love or just plain lust?
That stands here right between us
If I told you how much I loved you would everything change?
But not likely for love and hearts don’t rearrange
These things I would never say
My emotions kept inside
But on paper my thoughts lay
Crying out to be recognized
As I still lay here in the dark
Writing this poem from my heart
Oh, how I envy those who get to hold you
But the pain will stop, this nights soon through
For this poet in me will never be shown
But at least her, you would have known
I tell myself this isn’t sappy but true
But I don’t know how I’ll feel when this night is through.
Time heals all wounds. Someone has said
Love is forever somewhere I've read
As I lay here in the dark
Continuing this poem from deep in my heart
Wishing wishes that won’t come true
For all I wish for is you
And as night grows into dawn
My memories have faded and gone
Can you promise me it will always be this way?
That my care for you will never fade away?
As I lay here in the dark
Ending this poem, written from my heart
As I lay here this morning
My heart is still mourning
It makes me feel closer to you knowing we watch the same sunsets
This id share with you if wed met
It makes me feel closer to you knowing, that we wish on the same stars
This gives me hope that you’re closer and not so far
As I open my eyes I know
That I'd love you even so
Leaving no real explanation...
You are truly MY temptation.
